The Hollywood Comic Book Era

a: Comic book ~
b: Story boarded movie

What: A couple of years back I was reading an article about the movie industry in LA. The point of the article was that there is a massive infrastructure for making movies in the LA basin. This includes studios, prop production, agents, accounting and financing. The limiting factor is good scripts. Marvil comics was purchased for it contents which of course is comic books. But comic books are essentially or can be thought of as storyboard movies. The scenes, the dialog and the plots are already developed and refined. It not much of a jump to turn them into a coherent movie. The fundamental question in this scenario: Why are there so few good scripts?
